Along the 4km-long tour of the zoo one encounters animals from all over the world. Giraffes, different kinds of monkeys, tiger, tropical birds, antelopes, crocodiles, giant snakes and some 1,000 other animals live in their spacious enclosures on an area of 13 hectares.
Vultures with a wing spread of up to three meters can be experienced from close-by; there are no fences in the world’s biggest accessible bird-of-prey enclosure in the Schmiding Zoo.
Jungle atmosphere with parrots, marmosets, iguanas, oriental small-clawed otters and crocodiles can be seen at the gigantic tropical house.
A group of four gorillas elates the young and old.
Games, fun and action can be enjoyed at the three gigantic playgrounds for children. A 100m²-large trampoline, an 8m-high sliding tower, a rope slide, a pirate’s boat and more are to the children’s delight.
OPENING TIMES:
Early March to mid-November, daily from 9am – 7pm, dogs are not allowed.
Daily at 3.30pm, from April to October, the feeding of the cheetahs takes place.
It's very special to feed animals, especially for kids. But feeding of the animals with food from at home is forbidden - you can buy special animal food at the entrance.
On Sundays and public holidays pony riding is available (1pm - 4pm) for EUR 1.

A special experience will be to see the two elephants in their own house with large outdoor area - all in wonderful countryside on the idyllic farm.
In the 'Tiergarten Walding' you can see carnivores like lions, tigers and black panthers, etc.
A lasting impression will be left by the petting zoo. Many animals can be petted and stroked and horseback riding is available at all times on our ponies.
A truly special experience is riding on camels (by prior arrangement).
Lovers of horses can have riding lessons and guided ride-outs into the surrounding countryside.
Get new energy with products from our farm like curd cheese, speck, butter bread, must and milk.
